Host families
Become a WILD host family
Welcome a teenage student from Europe into your home in Limerick or Galway, and earn €225 per student per week.
Why host with WILD
Share Irish life
Students come to experience real Irish family life, not a hotel.
Fair, reliable pay
€225 per student per week, with half paid before the student even arrives.
Fits around you
Short stays of 1–2 weeks all year round, and you choose which dates suit you.
We're always there
24/7 emergency phone support, and we handle airports, classes and activities.
About the students
Ages 11–18, mostly from Italy and Spain, often coming in school groups with their own group leaders. They attend English classes and a full activity programme during the day, and come home to you for the evening meal and overnight. We place students all year round, and summer is our busiest season.
What we ask of host families
- A bedroom for the student. Two students of the same sex can share a room.
- Full board: breakfast, a packed lunch on weekdays and an evening meal with the family, with all meals provided at weekends.
- A safe, clean, welcoming home with Wi-Fi.
- Living within about 5 km of Limerick or Galway city centre.
- Bringing the students into the city centre each morning. If you're on an active, reliable and frequent bus route, that can be considered instead.
- Garda vetting for every adult aged 18+ living in the home (WILD English School arranges this for you).
- A short home visit from our team before you are approved.

How you get paid
€225 per student per week. You receive 50% about 8 weeks before the student arrives, and the remaining 50% halfway through the stay. For a 2-week stay, that's after the first week. For a 1-week stay, it's after 3 days.
