How Wild English School collects, uses and protects the personal data of parents, students and agency partners — in line with GDPR and Irish data protection law.
Last updated August 2026
01. Who we are
Wild English School ("we", "us") is a boutique junior English immersion school based in Limerick, Ireland, running programmes for students aged 14–17 in Limerick and Galway and across the Wild Atlantic Way. You can contact us at hello@wildenglishschool.com or by post to Wild English School, O'Connell Street, Limerick V94, Ireland. This policy explains how we collect, use and protect personal data in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Irish Data Protection Act 2018.
02. What we collect and why
We only collect what we need to run a programme safely and to reply to your enquiry:
- Enquiry forms (contact page): name, email, agency name, country, group size, student age, preferred dates and your message — so a director can reply to you.
- Booking and agency portal: account email, agency details, student names and ages, passport details, dietary and medical information, emergency contacts and signed consent forms — needed to arrange host families, transfers, supervision and welfare cover.
- Website usage: anonymous analytics (Google Analytics 4) about pages visited and rough location, used to improve the site. We do not use this to identify individuals.
03. Lawful basis
We process enquiry data on the basis of your consent and our legitimate interest in responding to your request. We process booking and welfare data under the contract we agree with you or your agency, and to comply with legal obligations around child safeguarding and immigration. Special-category data (such as medical information) is processed only with explicit consent and solely to keep a student safe.
04. Who we share it with
We share personal data only with people who need it to run the programme:
- Garda-vetted host families (accommodation and welfare only)
- Activity providers and transport companies (names, ages, supervision needs)
- Our email and database providers, who act as our data processors
We never sell your data. We do not share it for marketing with third parties. Data is stored within the EU/EEA where possible; where a provider is outside the EU, we rely on standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision.
05. How long we keep it
Enquiry data is kept for up to 24 months so we can follow up, then deleted. Booking and welfare records are kept for the duration of the programme plus a reasonable period (typically seven years) to meet safeguarding, insurance and accounting obligations, then securely destroyed.
06. Your rights
Under GDPR you have the right to access, correct, erase or restrict your personal data, to object to processing, to data portability and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, email hello@wildenglishschool.com. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie.
07. Cookies
This site uses only essential and analytics cookies. Essential cookies keep the site working and remember your language choice. Analytics cookies (Google Analytics 4) help us understand which pages are useful. The cookie banner lets you accept or decline analytics cookies. You can change your choice at any time by clearing your browser storage.
08. Children's data
Our programmes serve students aged 14–17. We collect their data through a parent, legal guardian or the group leader of a partner agency — never directly from the student without consent. Parents and guardians may exercise data rights on behalf of their child by contacting us.
09. Security
We protect personal data using access controls, encryption in transit, and role-based access limited to staff who need it. Our database enforces row-level security so an agency can only see its own bookings. No method of transmission or storage is fully secure, but we apply measures appropriate to the sensitivity of the data.
