For Irish school principals
A European classmate for a term or a year.
WILD places a small number of European students, usually two to four per school, aged 12 to 17, into Second Year, Transition Year or Fifth Year. You decide how many, which year groups and which terms. WILD looks after everything outside the classroom.
What your school gains
A contribution for every student
Paid per student, per term, directly to your school. The amount is agreed with each school before any placement.
Languages come alive
A Spanish or Italian classmate gives your language students a native speaker to practise with, in class and at lunch.
A richer Transition Year
Students join TY modules, mini-companies and trips, and can run language or culture sessions.
An international profile
Parents notice it, and it supports any Erasmus+ or international plans your school has.
Friendships that last
Irish students often visit their classmates' families abroad, which can lead to exchanges.
No extra workload
WILD handles everything outside the timetable. Your role is to teach and include the student.
Who does what
You teach. We do the rest.

Questions principals ask
- Will this add to our administration?
- Very little. WILD prepares the paperwork, deals with the parents and pays your contribution once a term.
- What if a student struggles or misbehaves?
- Contact WILD as you would a parent. We meet the student, involve the parents and, if needed, move them to another family or arrange their return home.
- Do they need extra English support?
- Not from the school. Every student arrives at B1 or above, and WILD provides any extra English support.
- Which subjects do they take?
- The normal timetable for their year group. Spanish and Italian students are exempt from Irish; during Irish class they do English with WILD.
- Can we stop at any time?
- Yes. There is no long-term commitment. Each year you decide whether to take students again.
